This 1970 album by Charlies is one of the most rare and valuable vinyl records from Finland. The album is full of hard rocking material with magnificent lead guitarwork. There are clear progressive elements thrown all over the place on this record and their sound includes lots of blues rock influences as well. When it comes to the value of the original first press vinyl of Buttocks this one gets pretty close to Elonkorjuu's Harvest Time. Harvest Time is often called as the most valuable Finnish vinyl record but Buttocks isn't far behind. Very good hard rock album from the early 1970's Finland. This is a progressive rock trio from Finland, originally released in 1971. Their album comprised bluesy progressive rock with electric guitar and organ to the fore and sung in English. Their sound is typical of the Scandinavian stuff of the time being somewhat influenced by that Nordic folk sound, but also they had a heavy blues base to their music. The main instrument used is the Hammond organ, as there is lot's of manic playing. There is also some nice guitar. Apollo was
formed in 1969 by three ex-Topmost members (Harri Saksala, Eero Lupari,
Heimo Holopainen) and one Edward Vesala. Topmost was a very popular
group in Finland in the late 60's, so when Apollo was formed, they were
considered somewhat of a "supergroup". LED ZEPPELIN had just released
their debut, and they were apparently a huge influence for the band,
which is a bit strange as those influences are not that clear when
listening to their only, self-titled album. The debut was released in
1970, when progressive rock (in Finland at least) was still in its
babyshoes, and that does show. It's very much a mixed bag, blending
(possibly too) many ideas together, but it's nevertheless a quite
charming album. The album consists of a few rough rock tracks ("Red" era
KING CRIMSON meets LED ZEPPELIN), and a couple of interesting "ballads"
in the vein of PROCOL HARUM. The most progressive ones are definitely
Edward Vesala's experimentations in Labyrintti and Trimalcion, which
don't seem to have any clear structure, blending together different
percussions, flutes and what not.The album was reasonably succesful in Finland, but soon after releasing the album, Apollo was already disbanded. ELONKORJUU
(Finnish for 'harvest') was formed in 1969 in the south-western Finnish
town of Pori by the singer and guitarist Jukka Syrenius. In the autumn
of 1970 the band were awarded second place in a music contest called
Rockin' Suomen Mestaruus (Finnish Championship of Rock Bands). In the
Seventies they released two albums, the first of which, "Harvest Time"
(1972), is considered the most expensive Finnish collector's item,
commanding a price of ?500-1,000. Their second album, "Flying High,
Running Fast" (1978), was released under the English name of HARVEST in
the hope of breaking the band on the international market. During those
years, ELONKORJUU also performed live all over the country, and were
often a feature at major Finnish rock events, such as Pori Jazz and
Ruisrock festivals.Though disbanded in 1978, the band made their
comeback in 2003, and the following year released a new album,
"Scumbag". This saw a change in the direction of their music, being more
in a rock-blues vein. Besides Syrenius, the other original members
still with the band are bassist Veli-Pekka Pessi and drummer Pertti
Hannus, while keyboardist Jussi Reunamäki joined them after their
reformation. ELONKORJUU are still very active on the live music circuit
of their native country, often performing to full houses. Line-up / Musicians Jukka Syrenius/guitar Veli-pekka Pessi/bass Pertti Hannus/drums lkka Poijärvi/guitar,organ,flute Heikki Lajunen/vocals,guitar,bass,piano Discography(Album) Harvest Time 1972

Pekka
Airaksinen started making music in the late 1960s with the group the
Sperm, combining performance art with experimental music of the day.
With influences such as John Cage and Karlheinz Stockhausen, the Sperm
combined free jazz and psychedelic pop to create a sound resembling
early industrial music and noise. After the Sperm’s breakup in the ’70s,
Pekka Airaksinen became a Buddhist and would stop releasing music for
almost a decade. Airaksinen, who was regarded as a recluse, returned to
the public eye in the mid-80s under his own name and with a brand new
but equally futuristic vision. His album Buddhas of Golden Light is an
incredible mixture of Sun Ra’s cosmic free jazz and twisted rhythms
programmed on a Roland 808 drum machine. At the end of the decade techno
elevated the 808 to a fetish object and Airaksinen disappeared for
another five years. In the ’90s Airaksinen released a large number of
CD’s and CD-R’s on his own Dharmakustannus label, on which the style of
each track varied wildly – breaking every rule of the niche-group
marketing concepts of the era. All his recordings, whether they are his
unique interpretations of contemporary music, new age, ambient house or
jazz, are characterized by a sense of improvisation and casual roughness
that is rare in electronic music. The most avant-garde pieces of his
recent output continue his earlier work with the imaginary ‘anthropoid
music’ of the future. One Point Music is his shining moment. Line-up / Musicians Pekka Airaksinen/keyboards,Guitar,Organ Discography The Garden of Jane Delawney 1970
