NANU URWERK was an obscure band whose only musical endeavor seems to be a fairly non-commercial type of fusion album in the late 70's. Not a typical jazz-rock album, especially when one looks at the year it was produced. The core of the sound is oscillating around a warm, atmospheric Rhodes piano that resembles Soft Machine's adventures. This band doesn't get as cool as the British group did after the first albums. They work around melodic, mellow and subtle jazz-rock ground and spice it up with unexpected funny harmonies and dissonant brass/woodwind sections. Some seldom vocal moments also present flirting with Zappa's world.
